This weekend we visited Cotehele, just a few miles down the road from us for their annual Daffodil Weekend. As usual the grounds are looking great, and there were plenty of beautiful varieties of daffodils on show. A stunning addition this year was the daffodil lined archway, pictured above.
Visiting the marquee, it was interesting to read about the du Plessis brothers who ran Lower Marsh Farm as an award winning daffodil farm for many years and developed some unique variants of their own. Also on show was a large selection of Ron Scamp’s daffodils (nephew of Dan and Peter du Plessis) including one named after his uncle. We will be purchasing some of these bulbs (flowers pictured below) to plant in their memory in the gardens here from his Falmouth nursery, Quality Daffodils. These will add to the numerous varieties that can still be seen growing here at Lower Marsh Farm. Visitors staying in one of our holiday let properties during March and April are able to enjoy the numerous areas of joyous yellow daffodils both here and all around the Tamar Valley.
