If you want to fish while here in the Tamar Valley, there are plenty of great options locally.
Our three main Tamar Valley rivers are the Tamar, the Tavy and the Lynher – and their many tributaries each offers excellent fishing. The middle and lower stretches of the Tamar offer superb salmon fishing, with many beats ideal for fly fishing. The River Tamar salmon fishing season runs from 1st March to 14th October.
Later on in the year, sea trout (peal), brown trout, and greyling fishing are popular. Sea trout fishing in the Tamar Valley is at its peak in July and August, and in settled weather, night fishing can be very rewarding. The fishing season for greyling runs from 16th June right through to 14th March, so in a calm winter the Tamar Valley is truly an all-year-round fishing destination.
