The Eden Project, located in Cornwall, is a unique destination that combines stunning biodomes, rich plant diversity, and a mission to promote environmental sustainability. If you’re planning to travel from Saltash to the Eden Project, you’re in for a scenic journey by train and bus, taking you through some of Cornwall’s most picturesque landscapes. Opting for train travel not only reduces your carbon footprint but also offers a relaxed and scenic way to explore this beautiful region.
If you travel to the Eden Project by train and / or bus, your party can claim an Eden Guide Book worth £6 on arrival. In order to claim your free gift, you need to speak to the ticketing team on arrival at the Visitor Centre, and hold onto any train or bus receipts from your journey.
The Route
Your journey from Saltash to the Eden Project involves 3 main steps:
- Drive to Saltash train station
- taking a train from Saltash to St Austell,
- followed by a local bus that will take you directly to the Eden Project’s entrance.
Step 1: Drive to Saltash train station
The drive from the farm takes approximately 20 minutes. There are very limited amenities (no toilets, shops, café or cash machine) at the train station so we recommend taking food and drink for the journey with you. There are a few car parking spaces on the road directly outside the train station. Further car parking is available in Alexander Square car park which is just around the corner.

Step 2: Saltash to St Austell by train
The train from Saltash to St Austell takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the service. Most trains between Saltash and St Austell are direct, so you won’t have to worry about changes.
There is no ticket office or machine at the station so you need to buy tickets online before travelling and have these available on a smartphone to show during your journey.
Step 3: St Austell to the Eden Project by Bus
The Bus 28 (also Bus 31 and Bus 428) run from St Austell Bus Station (Bus 28 and 428 from stand A and Bus 31 from stand D) to the Eden Project in about 25 minutes (and costs £2 each way….at least until 31st December 2024). Buses are frequent, especially during peak tourist seasons.
From the bus stop at the Eden Project it’s a 5-minute walk downhill to the Reception Building.
