Perhaps you’ve recently become engaged and simply don’t want to wait. Maybe your original wedding plans have changed, you’ve found yourselves with an unexpected window in the diary, or you’ve realised that what you really want is something smaller, simpler and sooner.

At Lower Marsh Farm, we occasionally have dates available at relatively short notice, making it possible to plan a beautiful last-minute wedding in Cornwall without your wedding feeling rushed or like a compromise.

From an elopement for just the two of you to an intimate celebration with family and friends, we’ll help you concentrate on the things that really matter – getting married, gathering your favourite people together and having a wonderful time.

How last-minute is last minute?

You might be surprised.

Subject to availability – and allowing enough time to complete the legal formalities – it can sometimes be possible to arrange a wedding at Lower Marsh Farm within just a few weeks.

If you have a little longer, perhaps two or three months, there are even more possibilities.

The first thing to do is simply ask us about available dates. If we have something that works for you, we can provisionally hold the date while you check the registrar and start putting the other pieces into place.

You don’t need to have everything worked out before getting in touch.

Last-minute elopements for two

If there’s just the two of you, organising a wedding at relatively short notice can be surprisingly straightforward.

Our elopement weddings combine your wedding with a three-night stay at Lower Marsh Farm, so rather than rushing in and out for the ceremony, you can escape to Cornwall and enjoy a little wedding and mini-moon rolled into one.

Choose where you’d like to say your vows, add flowers and photography, perhaps arrange a special dinner and then spend the rest of your time simply enjoying being married.

We can also help with optional extras including cake, additional flowers, hair and make-up, spa treatments and even a dog chaperone if your four-legged family member is coming too.

Intimate weddings for up to 20 guests

A last-minute wedding doesn’t necessarily mean eloping.

Our intimate weddings for up to 20 guests are particularly well suited to shorter planning times because you can use the existing spaces around the farm without needing to hire a marquee or tipi.

Invite the people you really couldn’t imagine getting married without and keep everything else beautifully simple.

With accommodation for around 20 on the farm, there’s also the possibility of having almost your entire wedding party staying with you.

Dinner the night before, your wedding the following day and breakfast together the morning after – suddenly your last-minute wedding has become a rather lovely few days away.

Small weddings for up to 50 guests

If you’d like a slightly bigger celebration, we also host small weddings for up to 50 guests.

For these weddings, a tipi in the courtyard or orchard provides your main covered reception space and wet-weather back-up.

There are naturally a few more suppliers and practicalities to organise than there are for an elopement or intimate wedding, so the amount of notice you’ll need will depend partly on tipi and supplier availability.

But if you’re flexible about your date and ideas, it’s always worth asking us what’s possible.

What about a bigger wedding?

Lower Marsh Farm can host weddings for up to 130 guests, so a last-minute enquiry doesn’t have to mean a small wedding.

Larger celebrations generally require more infrastructure and suppliers – including a marquee or tipi – so naturally they’re easier with a little more planning time.

However, if we have availability and the suppliers you need can accommodate your date, we’ll happily explore the possibilities with you.

Choose where to say “I do”

Last-minute doesn’t mean limiting yourself to a registry office.

Lower Marsh Farm is licensed for wedding ceremonies, with a choice of wonderfully different settings around the farm.

Depending on the size and style of your wedding, you could marry beside the pool, in one of the courtyards, surrounded by countryside or in our characterful Well House.

Beautiful Landulph Church is also just a short walk from the end of our drive if you’d prefer a church wedding.

We’ll help you keep things simple

One of the reasons wedding planning can take over your life is the sheer number of decisions involved.

Chair styles. Napkin colours. Favours. Signage. Table plans. Whether anybody actually needs a doughnut wall…

With a shorter timescale, there’s simply less opportunity to disappear down those particular rabbit holes.

We’ll help you work out what you genuinely need and introduce you to trusted local suppliers where we can.

You can choose your own caterer, photographer, florist, hair and make-up artist and other suppliers, so you’re not tied to a complicated package or forced to choose from a very short list.

The result can be a wedding that feels more personal rather than less.

What do we actually need to organise?

There are a few things that can’t be left until the very last minute.

Most importantly, you’ll need to make sure you can complete the legal requirements for getting married and that a registrar is available for your chosen date if you’re having a civil ceremony.

After that, concentrate on the essentials: somewhere to get married, something lovely to eat and drink, somewhere to sleep and the people you’d like beside you.

Then add the things that matter to you.

Perhaps that’s beautiful flowers and a brilliant photographer. Perhaps it’s fantastic food. Perhaps it’s having your dog walk down the aisle.

Your wedding doesn’t have to contain everything you’ve ever seen on Pinterest to be special.

Stay for a few days

One of the nicest things about a wedding at Lower Marsh Farm is that you don’t have to arrive, get married and disappear again.

Your wedding booking includes accommodation for around 20 guests, allowing your closest friends and family to stay on the farm and turn the celebration into a few days away together.

There are hot tubs, woodland and riverside walks and plenty of peaceful corners in which to recover from the celebrations.

And during the warmer months, there’s always time for a relaxing dip in our glorious heated outdoor swimming pool.
