Stay together at Lower Marsh Farm

Your wedding doesn’t have to be over in a day.

At Lower Marsh Farm, your wedding booking includes exclusive use of the venue and accommodation for around 20 of your closest friends and family, giving you the chance to turn your wedding into a wonderfully relaxed few days together.

Tucked away in the Tamar Valley on the Cornish bank of the River Tamar, our accommodation is spread around the farm, surrounded by gardens, woodland, orchard, meadows and our nature reserve.

Arrive, unpack and settle in. Have supper together the night before. Wake up on the farm on your wedding morning and, once the last song has played, simply wander back to bed.

Then meet again over breakfast the following morning and relive it all.

For us, that’s one of the loveliest things about having a wedding here.

Accommodation for around 20 wedding guests

Rather than one large hotel, Lower Marsh Farm has a collection of individual barns, cottages and yurt cabins, allowing your wedding party to stay together while still having their own space.

Kingfisher Barn

Our largest property and a natural gathering place for your wedding party.

Kingfisher Barn has four bedrooms and can accommodate up to 10 guests. Its large open-plan living area makes it particularly useful during a wedding stay – whether that’s everyone getting together the evening before, bridesmaids getting ready on the morning itself or simply somewhere to sit with a cup of tea while the excitement unfolds.

Outside, there’s a private garden and hot tub.

Bulrush Barn

A stylish one-bedroom barn conversion with its own private garden and hot tub.

Bulrush Barn can accommodate up to four and can be arranged with a super-king bed, making it a lovely option for the wedding couple themselves.

It’s also a rather nice place to escape to when you’ve finally said goodnight to everyone.

Orchard Cottage

Tucked away with its own private garden and hot tub, Orchard Cottage is a peaceful retreat for two or three guests.

It’s on the ground floor and particularly useful for wedding guests who may find stairs more difficult.

Our Yurt Cabins

For guests who fancy something a little different, our three wooden yurt cabins are dotted around the farm.

Each sleeps two in a proper bed and has lighting, USB charging and a log burner, combining the adventure of staying close to nature with rather more comfort than a night under canvas.

They’re particularly lovely for friends who want to wake up surrounded by the countryside.

Getting ready on the farm

One of the pleasures of staying at your wedding venue is that there’s no stressful journey to make on the morning of the wedding.

You can get ready here, surrounded by the people you love, while everything else is happening just a short walk away.

Depending on your plans, different properties can be allocated to different parts of the wedding party so you don’t accidentally bump into each other before the ceremony – unless, of course, you’re not remotely worried about that particular tradition.

Your photographer can also capture the preparations before following you to your ceremony, without anyone needing to get into a car.

The night before your wedding

Having accommodation on site also means you can start celebrating before the wedding itself.

Keep things wonderfully simple with a relaxed supper and a bottle of wine, gather everyone together for a meal, or give your guests the evening to settle in and explore. And, of course, there’s always time for a relaxing dip in our glorious heated outdoor swimming pool!

There’s no pressure to organise another event. Sometimes the nicest evening is simply everyone arriving, putting the kettle on and gradually gathering together as the anticipation builds.

Your wedding morning

There’s something rather special about waking up at the place where you’re going to get married.

Have breakfast, take a walk around the farm, enjoy a quiet coffee in your garden or start getting ready with your favourite people around you.

And because you’re already here, your wedding morning can feel part of the celebration rather than a logistical exercise in getting everyone to the right place at the right time.

And when the party is over…

No taxis. No coach timetable. No long journey back to a hotel.

For the guests staying at Lower Marsh Farm, bed is only a short stroll away.

It’s particularly lovely for the wedding couple, who can stay and enjoy every last moment of their celebration rather than disappearing halfway through the evening.

And the next morning, instead of everyone immediately heading home, you can gather together again for breakfast, swap photographs and hear about all the bits of the wedding you somehow managed to miss.

Make a few days of it

Depending on the season, your guests can make the most of everything else Lower Marsh Farm has to offer too.

There are walks through the woodland and nature reserve, the orchard and gardens to explore, hot tubs to sink into and the River Tamar at the bottom of the farm.

During the warmer months, there’s also our outdoor heated swimming pool.

It helps make a wedding here feel less like hiring a venue for a few hours and more like gathering everyone together for a very special Cornish escape.

Accommodation for intimate, small and larger weddings

For an intimate wedding of up to 20 guests, having accommodation for around 20 means it’s possible for most – and sometimes all – of your wedding party to stay on the farm with you.

For our small weddings of up to 50 guests, your closest friends and family can stay here, while we can help point other guests towards accommodation in the surrounding area.

And for larger weddings of up to 130 guests, the farm becomes the base for the wedding couple and their nearest and dearest, with other guests staying locally.

Can our guests pay for their own accommodation?

Yes.

If you’d prefer, your wedding guests can pay us directly for their accommodation rather than you collecting the money yourself.

You simply decide who you’d like to allocate to each property and provide us with their details, and we can arrange payment with them directly.

What about guests staying elsewhere?

There are additional accommodation options in the surrounding area for guests who aren’t staying at Lower Marsh Farm.

We’re also within easy reach of Plymouth, Saltash and other parts of the Tamar Valley, giving guests a choice of hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation.

We’ll be happy to help with suggestions when you’re planning your wedding.

Can we bring our dog?

Of course.

Lower Marsh Farm is dog friendly, so your dog can stay with you and be part of your wedding celebrations too.

If you’d like them involved in the ceremony and photographs but would rather someone else handled the walks, feeding and general dog duties while you’re busy getting married, we can also help arrange a dog chaperone.

Elopement accommodation

If it’s just the two of you, our elopement weddings include a three-night stay at Lower Marsh Farm, so your wedding becomes a little Cornish mini-moon too.

You can arrive and settle in before the wedding, enjoy your ceremony and celebrations without rushing anywhere, and wake up the following morning with nowhere you need to be.

A wedding that’s more than one day

We love the fact that weddings at Lower Marsh Farm don’t have to begin with the ceremony and finish when the music stops.

Having your favourite people staying around you creates a completely different atmosphere.

There are the conversations over breakfast, the last-minute preparations, someone wandering across the courtyard still wearing their slippers, the first glass of Champagne, and the stories shared the morning afterwards.

It’s your wedding, but it’s also a few precious days with the people who matter most.
